Dr. Aldemir Coelho was born in Recife, Brazil. The biggest inspiration in his life was his father Dr. Coelho Sr. It was the manner in which he empathized with patients and approached illness that made his son pursue a career in medicine.
After graduating from medical school at the Universidade Federal De Pernambuco, and doing his residency in Brazil, he was encouraged by his professors to train further in the United States.
Thus, his life-long career as a Cardiovascular Surgeon began in Los Angeles, followed by a fellowship at USC-St Vincent Medical Center, then later moving on to the Texas Heart Institute in Houston and Toronto, giving him the tools to practice his gift.
During his four-decade career he has been published in numerous medical journals in Brazil and the United States such as the Anais da Faculdade de Medicina and the Archives of Surgery.
Dr. Coelho, a speaker and consultant, concentrated his area of expertise in cardiovascular surgery. He has been a guest speaker in conferences such as: The Brazilian Gastroenterology Conference – The Student State Medical Conference in Racife, Brazil – The International Symposium on Artificial Organs – Sao Paulo, Brazil Morphology of Ascending Aortic Aneurysm – Clinical Research, Washington DC – American Heart Association, Anaheim California.
He spent the second part of his cardiovascular surgical career in the state of Arizona working at Good Samaritan Hospital and other Phoenix area hospitals. After decades of service, Dr. Coelho has started a private practice. With the understanding that addiction is an illness he has turned his focus on treating patients with opiate dependency.
He is certified with the Arizona Medical Board and holds a special license issued by the United State Department of Justice to treat his patients with Suboxone Sublingual Film. His team is equipped with a group of professional counselors to help you succeed in Choosing Life!
